Alexander Voyles is a UCSD ICAM (Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts Major: Music) student. Curious about the ways music can be interpreted through the sounds of nature, he set out to create an evolving project that highlights his artistic impressions of the music within field recordings of national parks. This site also serves to catalog and index sounds within some of America’s most precious and cherished landscapes by providing all of the field recordings used in the artistic process. Through his process, Alexander attempts to amplify the moods that emerge and that he interprets through deep listening of the field recordings.
